Span Shades

Span Shade Structures

SOUTHERN SPAN SHADES are designed to cover areas over 100 square meters. The span shade system is a simple modular lock in system, where set sized steel posts fit into set angled knuckles and joiners to form a frame. The same commercial strength cloth as our shade sails is then stretched over the frame to form a large shelter up to 200 square meters in area. Span shades can also be joined indefinitely to give as much protection as required.

While traditional shade sails can be designed to cross over and interlink to provide large areas of cover, they may require fixing  points in unacceptable or inaccessible areas, such as in the middle of play equipment or swimming pools.

SOUTHERN SPAN SHADES generally require cranes and elevated platforms for construction and the installation of the canopy, making them considerably more expensive than covering the same area with sails. Subsequently, maintenance due to vandalism or storms can also be expensive and time consuming.
